"My First experience at FRIENDS ORGANIZATION was heart-rending & stupendous. Its so inspiring to see the will, determination & the struggle of organization's chairperson, Mister Dinesh who doesn't consider himself disabled and wants 'disabled' term to be removed from society. I realized that cutting off the time we spend in hanging out with friends, shopping, movies, if we just give few hours in a month and do our bit by volunteering and supporting this social cause, it would make a BIG DIFFERENCE and make us feel contended."

Friends Organization- A vision for differently abled

Friends Organisation is a Delhi based NGO working for differently-abled adults since November 2003 headed by Mister Dinesh. Friends Organisation provides differently-abled adults a common platform for interaction, growth and learning and strives for the provision of equal opportunities for them.

The main aim of Friends Organisation is to improve the quality of life of differently-abled people. It aims to do that through its three point programme:

Provision of Recreational Facilities: Every month, Friends organisation organizes one recreational activity. The nature of these activities ranges from movie screenings, music concerts and variety programs to field trips within and outside Delhi. These events provide an opportunity for leisure, entertainment and relationship-building.

Creating Awareness: Most persons with disabilities are unaware of the Government policies and support groups and systems in place for the promotion of their wellbeing. Through our awareness programs, we attempt to inform them of the various Government policies, welfare schemes available as well as the organisations working for their support.

Finding Employment Opportunities:  Another area that Friends Organisation is working on is seeking avenues of employment for differently-abled people.

In its endeavors, Friends Organisation ties up with several organisations across Delhi. These NGO’s are used as a site for their events.

In addition to this, Mister Dinesh needs help only in compiling, paper work, documentation, drafting letters etc, as he suffers from Cerebral palsy (a disease in which brain works but body does not responds).

Anyone can lend a helping hand.

The song gets played on Riddhi's laptop as we wait for the Orientation Ceremony to kick off, filling us with more enthusiasm, fervor in our nerves, rapture in our souls and adrenaline rush flowing in. Our first ever Orientation ceremony, that too stellated by us. We sat with our attires for the moment as the army of students gather. The entire flock of around one fifty to two hundred people enter the hall with our eyes gazing at them. We talking in monotonous tones regarding the crowd. Therein, Swati takes the heads out of the hall and we generated a circle and holding our shoulders, the feeling of Indian Cricket team flows in.

"Guys this is our first effort together, it will go nicely. This is our time. Give in your full efforts".

Revived with new energy, we enter the hall back again. 

The time arrived. That's when Swati begins her unprepared lecture. Totally blabbering whatever comes in her mind. Omitting the zipping of her mouth even a second. We starred at her through the stairs, just as more people flow in. Even the stairs aren't reserved for us now. The adrenaline rush flew with about three hundred meters per second. 

Just as her golden words came to an end, we asked people to register them in sorts for our simplicity.

It became a circus actually, still, out heart flying with giant wings ensuring us "this year will be a platinum one, with so many expedients in our heads and so many members to help us lock stock and barrel our dreams".

The hush rush & assiduous day came to an end. Thats when Swati says, "Guys the real work begins now". We all know she wont let us breath lest the work is discoursed.
